NACEC – State of the Sector Report
First Western were contracted to undertake a detailed survey of 130 community owned and managed Enterprise 
Centres in Ireland to establish their levels of financial and business sustainability, the key challenges and issues they faced and map the impacts of the economic recession on both the centres and their tenants performance. We carried out a detailed online survey, followed by in-depth one to one consultation with 30 centres, ensuring a representative sample of centres based on size and location. The final report tracked trends and forecast emerging trends for the Community Enterprise Centre sector and created a solid business case and rationale for government support for the sector.
First Western presented the findings of the report to the Minister for Innovation and Jobs and this resulted in the rollout of a €2m funding programme of support for Community Owned Enterprise Centres via Enterprise Ireland.
